Who Can Use the i-Light Pro?

Skin tone chart showing that only light skin tones are compatible
  • The i-LIGHT Pro is an over the counter system intended for the removal of unwanted hair.
  • It is intended for use by both men and women for hair removal below the neck (legs, underarms, bikini line, chest, stomach, and arms). The product should not be used anywhere on or around the face, head, ears or neck. Do NOT use the i-LIGHT on or around the eyes, eyebrows or eyelashes.
  • The i-LIGHT Pro works best on medium to darker hair colors and will not work on light colored hair like white and grey. It is less effective on lighter hair colors like light blonde or red.
  • Do not use the i-LIGHT Pro on dark skin or over tattoos or dark spots on your skin.
  • Refer to the Use and Care Guide for a complete list of contraindications and warnings.

How to Use the i-Light Pro

Just follow a few simple steps at home to begin:

  1. Clean, shave and dry the treatment area
  2. Touch your skin to the skin tone sensor to make sure your skin is compatible with the i-LIGHT Pro
  3. Place the i-LIGHT Pro against your skin and listen for the chirping sound before pressing the flash button
  4. You will see a short flash and feel warmth. Repeat on the treatment area in an organized, grid-like pattern. You should not treat the same spot multiple times during a session.
  5. Go enjoy the freedom!

*The i-LIGHT Pro is intended for permanent reduction in hair. Permanent hair reduction is defined as a long-term stable reduction in the number of hairs re-growing when measured at 6,9, and 12 months after the completion of a treatment regimen.

What to Expect

You will begin seeing results and visibly smoother skin within just a few weeks of starting your treatments. The i-LIGHT Pro isn’t for everyone so make sure to read Who Can Use i-LIGHT Pro section before purchasing the product.

Treatments and Schedule:

The i-LIGHT Pro should be used every two weeks for your first three treatments. After that use only as needed. Be sure to download the i-LIGHT Pro app to log your treatments, set up reminders, and even buy replacement cartridges for future treatments.

i-LIGHT Pro Intense Pulsed Light Hair Removal System Spa Kit 3.5 5 24 24
Tedious I agree completely with kay-kaye review. I have been treating my underarms and bikini line only and I am almost out of flashes. It works but it is tedious and takes many more treatments than they say. I have alternated between these two areas one week underarms next week bikini for 10 weeks now 5 for each area and I see improvement but not perfection. April 16, 2013
Pleased! I researched this product before I bought it and it is as good or better than I expected. It is incredibly easy to use and I have experienced little or no pain. It has been a breeze compared to waxing. I have only used it twice so far and I have noticed a decrease in hair growth. I am hoping after a couple more times to see even more improvement. I am the kind of woman that could shave twice a day. What a drag. My legs are smoother than they have ever been. April 7, 2013
** FALSE ADVERTISING "1500 PULSES" FALSE ADVERTISING ** I have used this product since Jan 2013 on my legs and underarms. I am a white female over 50. I have a medium skin tone with course hair on my legs. When I received the product in the mail I immediately watched the CD provide and read the manual. I was excited to try it out. I shaved my legs, decided to give it a try. I started the session at level 1 and at times would move it up to a 2 or 3. I found it to be as describe as a rubber band snap. The care of the unit was easy to include cleaning of the lens often during my sessions. I found doing my knees was awkward and decided to focus on my lower leg and underarms. With the initial light bulb that came with the unit, I was able to do my underarms and lower legs 3 times (every 2 weeks) before having to replace the bulb. I did not find much discomfort at these settings. I was starting to see small result on my underarms and possibly on my lower legs. When the bulb needed to be replaced I thought I would try a stronger setting to see if I get better results. I increased my setting between 4 -5. I could feel much more intense zaps and at times had to lower the setting. By increasing the light level I was feeling a higher / intense zap. I noticed the higher setting appeared to be helping my underarms but still was unsure about the results on my lower legs. I did 1 session with the high setter. Since I could not tell if it was really doing anything on my legs, on my next session I decided I would try just one area on one of my legs and then do a comparison. I only got one row up my leg by my shin when the bulb went out! I truly do not believe I even got 300 pulses off the new bulb! The higher setting must really degrade the bulb at a faster rate. At the rate of 300 pulses, I will need to buy so many cartridges that it is not worth its money. I have had a consult with a local laser hair removal company and get my lower legs and the rest of my underarms done for $600.00. The only thing I would be missing is not having the convenience of doing this in my own home and on my schedule. On the website video it clearly states each cartridge will give 1500 pulses and will give up to 3 body uses before needing to be changed. The longevity of the bulb is Very Miss Represented! When I use the light settings of 3 and below I might get 900 – 950 pulses. This is FALSE ADVERSTISING !!!!!! Don’t be fooled by all the reviews. Remember, the company has employees who also write reviews. Let’s face it, the company wants to sell a product and the employee wants to stay employed! I understand the product is not a professional level product. However, the website clearly states in the video that you will get 1500 light pulses per use. This is false ! ! ! To get full value of taking the time and effort for results of this product you will need to invest in multiple cartridges. This increases the cost of this unit significantly. When the consumers invest in a product, they want a return for their money with a true and honest product. They also want a company to stand behind their product and not mislead the consumer as Remington is doing. The only way I would speak of this product is to say it appeared to start working. However, buyer beware of the initial cost is a start up fee and all the additional cartridges you will have to buy you will be in for a very large overall cost of a product that may or may not give you the results you are looking for. April 7, 2013
Hasn't worked yet.... This product claims to have your unwanted hair fully gone after three treatments, well I wasn't expecting it to be that amazing, but after 5 treatments and following all the instructions and rules and also on the hugest setting, I haven't noticed a change at all. My hair still grows in course the next day. I was at least expecting slower hair growth or patches of missing hair or something by now. I will continue this use and hope to see changes. But I wouldn't waste your money. February 5, 2013
Great product! This product does work, it does require patience. I have been using it for 2 months now and it is working slowly but surely. I am still using the original cartrige. The trick is to keep the lens where the light source is emitted very clean. My hair is dark, but not extremely dark and this probably has something to do with my slower results. January 31, 2013
Remington Hair Removal System I purchased the Remington Hair Removal System at my 26 year old daughters request as a Christmas gift. I asked her just tonight if she was pleased with the results and if she had any criticisms. Her exact words were..."it's crazy how well it works Mom!" Coming from her... That's VERY high praise. So... Thumbs Up! January 1, 2013

Tria costs $395 but the bulb last 90,000 pulses an then you have to buy a new one.
Yours costs $249 plus the equivalent of 60 cartridges ($1,499.40). which is like buying 60 cartridges ($24.99 each).

So why do I want to buy yours instead of theirs? How much area does yours cover at one time?

Answer:
The i-LIGHT Pro was meticulously designed to give consumers access to Professional IPL technology and results at the most affordable entry price point. Everyone has different hair removal needs and, by offering 1500 flash replaceable cartridges, Remington lets consumers only buy what they need rather than paying for flashes they may not need. So, one consumer who only wants to treat her armpits or bikini line may only need one cartridge – while another consumer who wants to treat her full legs and stomach may require multiple cartridges over a few years.

Also, the i-LIGHT Pro is 1 of 2 IPL devices cleared by the FDA for over the counter use. The other device’s bulb only lasts 750 flashes so the i-LIGHT PRO offers 2X the number of flashes. Perhaps the product which you are using for comparison is not cleared by the FDA.

Answer:
IPL works best on light fair skin and dark hair due to the contrast of colours as the IPL technology targets pigments.
Therefore it is NOT SAFE to use on tattoos as there are alot of pigments under the skin.
It can cause burn, pain and may even lighten the colour of your tattoo.

Frequency of use on same body part?

On pg. 5 of the user's manual (small booklet supplied with the unit), it makes the following statements:

1) "That's why we recommend using the i-Light Pro system three times in the first month to hit every active hair."
2) "The first 3 sessions with the eiLight Pro IPL system should be 2 weeks apart."
3) "Do NOT treat the same body part more often than every 2 weeks."

I must be misunderstanding something here - but it appears the above statements are contradictory. The first statement says to use it on the same body part 3 times within a month (every 10 days); the second statement changes that advise by stating every 14 days (2 weeks apart); the third statement agrees with the second.

So what's the real answer here - how long should one go before treating the same area? Thanks.

The answer the staff gave in correct, it's just confusing at first. For example if you do the first session on the 1st of the month, then wait two weeks to the 15th and do the second session, then wait two weeks to the 29th for the third session, you will have done 3 sessions in one month.

Thank you for your message. I see how this may appear confusing. The answer is that you should use the i-Light Pro every 2 weeks for the first three sessions. So, you would use three times within 4 weeks – use, wait two weeks then use again, wait another two weeks and use again.

If you have a Smartphone you may like to download the iLight Pro app (it’s free) to keep track of your treatments.

Eye protection is not required, if the i-Light Pro is used as directed on body hair below the neck. I-Light Pro should NOT be used on the face, head, ears, or neck, on or around the eyes, eyebrows or eyelashes. Doing so can cause serious and permanent eye injury.

i-Light Pro features contact sensors which help ensure unintentional flashing when the device is not in full contact with the skin.

Answer:
First, know that this product is not FDA approved for the face and neck. It is imperative that it not be used around the eye. That said, I have seen reports of positive results on the face on this site. I can tell you from personal experience that I have very positive results with the same situation that you describe. Just use a lower setting; I do not go above the second setting personally in that area. It stings and is pretty snappy on that area, however it is very effective. Cover your eyes and do not go around the eyes ever.

Answer:
Both men and women can use i-Light Pro to remove unwanted hair below the neck. i-Light Pro is intended for use by individuals with light to medium skin colors, including white, ivory, tan, beige, and light brown only. Refer to the Skin Tone Chart on the packaging or in your Use & Care Guide to determine if your skin tone is suitable for use with the i-Light Pro.

i-Light Pro is also intended for use on naturally black or brown hair. Do not use i-Light Pro on white or gray hair because it will not work. IPL is less effective on lighter colors, such as blond or red hair.

No. i-Light Pro should NOT be used on the face, head, ears or neck. These areas may have darker skin and using the i-Light Pro there could cause skin swelling, temporary blisters, or could change the color of your skin. I-Light Pro should NEVER be used on or around the eyes, eyebrows or eyelashes. Doing so can cause serious and permanent eye injury.

i light vs diode laser

i light is not a laser- certain home laser hair removal companies advertise permanent hair removal, whereas i light claims to make one free for 6 months. Still for many reasons i am inclined to buy the i light system. I just need to confirm that with time, if not permanent hair removal than that the system does reduce hair significant with time. That is, every 6 months i will NOT be as i was in the beginning- that there will be some change. Is that possible with i light.
thanks

Answer:
FDA indicates that the laser can only advertise permanent reduction, not permanent removal. I would be wary of anyone advertising permanent results. Both methods require time. I have had laser treatments and find the iLight to be very comparable, much more convenient, and very affordable. I am completely satisfied and I've tried both ways now. I hope that helps.

Answer:
When used as directed, i-Light Pro IPL system helps remove unwanted hair without the need for daily shaving, waxing, or plucking. In a clinical study, after just three treatments, participants show an average of 47.8% less hair 6-months after last treatment. Actual results vary from person to person, depend on the body area being treated, and whether instructions were followed correctly.
