How Intense Pulsed Light Works:

Light-based hair removal technology has been used safely by medical professionals for over 15 years and numerous studies have demonstrated that long-lasting or permanent hair growth reduction is possible with proper use. Unlike most at-home hair removal methods, IPL doesn’t cut, burn or pull out hair, but instead works below the skin’s surface to disable active hairs and prevent new ones from growing.

The light energy is generated by a Xenon flash lamp and applied to the skin by a handheld device. The light targets the melanin or pigment in hair follicles, gently heating them and disrupting the growth cycle without damaging the overlying skin. To protect the skin, unwanted rays are safely filtered out, so that only light within the desired therapeutic range is allowed to pass through. You’ll start to see results within a few weeks of your initial treatment and results should improve over time!

i-LIGHT’s ProPulse™ Technology

Only Remington i-LIGHT Pro features ProPulse™, with output parameters comparable to the best clinical machines, to transform your hair removal experience. i-LIGHT Pro’s exclusive design:
  • Effectively targets hair follicles to disable growth by putting out energy at optimal power levels.
  • Delivers energy deep into the skin, targeting the hair bulb with the optimal light spectrum.
  • Enables surrounding tissue to cool while heating the target area with a long 110ms stretched light pulse.
  • Helps protect skin while filtering out unwanted wavelengths with a state-of-the-art dielectric filter which spreads energy more evenly across treatment window.
Plus, it features the fastest flash rate with no downtime for re-charging, so it’s ready whenever you are!

Why even consider paying thousands of dollars for in-office laser or IPL hair removal treatments when you can OWN the Remington i-LIGHT Pro for less than you’d likely pay for just one office visit? Set yourself free with the Remington i-LIGHT Pro!

Directions

i-LIGHT Pro is simple and easy to use:
Imagine, just three easy steps for hair removal that lasts 6 months!
1. Prepare – shave the desired area to allow the most direct path to the hair follicle.
2. Test – test skin in the intended treatment area to ensure it is not too dark to treat.
3. Flash – treat the desired area with the i-LIGHT Pro according to the directions in the Use & Care Guide. Perform three treatments every two weeks initially and then only as needed. You’ll wonder how you ever lived without it!

i-LIGHT Pro Intense Pulsed Light Hair Removal System Spa Kit 3.6 5 36 36
ilight pro did not work at all I put it up to the highest level of energy and the machine was working perfectly, but the hairs grew back the very next day. It was completely useless. There was nothing broken or wrong with the machine, it just didn't work at all. I felt the sensation of heat as i hit the laser button and the flash of light that accompanied it, but the laser just didn't work. I've done laser professionally at a doctor's office and it worked fine so the product is just not good in my opinion. June 17, 2013
Save Your Money I wish that I'd used the money toward a professional laser hair treatment-those work. Haven't seen any improvement and have wasted my time using this product. June 13, 2013
On the path to no shaving Thus far only two treatments and I can already tell a difference in the amount of hair that is regrowing. I have light colored skin, and dark brown hair. The first treatment was on medium power with the second turned all the way up. The only sensation I felt during use was a warm feeling, no stinging or pain. I will continue to treat the areas a few more times, and if Remington permits, I will write a more thorough review when I am done with the treatments. With that in mind, so far I am satisfied with the product and would recommend it. June 10, 2013
Easy to use I have only used the product two times, so I cannot recommend the product to my friends or family yet. So far, I have no complaints. June 10, 2013
Too soon to say but will update in the future I have only been using the system a couple of weeks. I have done 2 treatments on my bottom half leg and underarms, and one treatment on my upper legs. The first time I used it, I was surprised at the pain and was worried that it would be too difficult but I VERY quickly got past it and am already using the highest setting with minimal discomfort. The body naturally gets used to it and the pain becomes less intense. It is too soon to say if it is working because my hair has gotten much thinner because I recently switched to epilating. Because this system requires me to shave first, I feel like my hairs got a bit thicker but I am hoping that in a few months the hairs will be thinner and grow back slower. I do not believe that the hair will stop growing back as advertised. I have more realistic expectations that the hairs will just be more manageable and less high maintenance. I plan on updating once I have used the product longer. June 10, 2013
Very Great! i-LIGHT Pro Intense Pulsed Light Hair Removal System Spa Kit I read other people's feedback,Many of them are positive.I have done 1 treatment so far.It work good. I like it so much. Many times, I spend a lot of money on hair removal products. But they have no effect and painful.i-LIGHT Pro Intense Pulsed Light Hair Removal System is different from others. When you use this for a little hair place, not pain. The highest Hair centralized place is painful.i think it's not a big problem No pain no gain...I like i-light pro sooo much. June 7, 2013
So glad I found this I used this on my upper lip - took a couple times, but now the shadow is gone and the hair comes back lighter and thinner!! June 3, 2013
i-light pro easy to use, simple instructions ,a little bulky to use in cerrton areas other than that great product June 1, 2013

Tria costs $395 but the bulb last 90,000 pulses an then you have to buy a new one.
Yours costs $249 plus the equivalent of 60 cartridges ($1,499.40). which is like buying 60 cartridges ($24.99 each).

So why do I want to buy yours instead of theirs? How much area does yours cover at one time?

Answer:
The i-LIGHT Pro was meticulously designed to give consumers access to Professional IPL technology and results at the most affordable entry price point. Everyone has different hair removal needs and, by offering 1500 flash replaceable cartridges, Remington lets consumers only buy what they need rather than paying for flashes they may not need. So, one consumer who only wants to treat her armpits or bikini line may only need one cartridge – while another consumer who wants to treat her full legs and stomach may require multiple cartridges over a few years.

Also, the i-LIGHT Pro is 1 of 2 IPL devices cleared by the FDA for over the counter use. The other device’s bulb only lasts 750 flashes so the i-LIGHT PRO offers 2X the number of flashes. Perhaps the product which you are using for comparison is not cleared by the FDA.

Answer:
IPL works best on light fair skin and dark hair due to the contrast of colours as the IPL technology targets pigments.
Therefore it is NOT SAFE to use on tattoos as there are alot of pigments under the skin.
It can cause burn, pain and may even lighten the colour of your tattoo.

Frequency of use on same body part?

On pg. 5 of the user's manual (small booklet supplied with the unit), it makes the following statements:

1) "That's why we recommend using the i-Light Pro system three times in the first month to hit every active hair."
2) "The first 3 sessions with the eiLight Pro IPL system should be 2 weeks apart."
3) "Do NOT treat the same body part more often than every 2 weeks."

I must be misunderstanding something here - but it appears the above statements are contradictory. The first statement says to use it on the same body part 3 times within a month (every 10 days); the second statement changes that advise by stating every 14 days (2 weeks apart); the third statement agrees with the second.

So what's the real answer here - how long should one go before treating the same area? Thanks.

The answer the staff gave in correct, it's just confusing at first. For example if you do the first session on the 1st of the month, then wait two weeks to the 15th and do the second session, then wait two weeks to the 29th for the third session, you will have done 3 sessions in one month.

Thank you for your message. I see how this may appear confusing. The answer is that you should use the i-Light Pro every 2 weeks for the first three sessions. So, you would use three times within 4 weeks – use, wait two weeks then use again, wait another two weeks and use again.

If you have a Smartphone you may like to download the iLight Pro app (it’s free) to keep track of your treatments.

Eye protection is not required, if the i-Light Pro is used as directed on body hair below the neck. I-Light Pro should NOT be used on the face, head, ears, or neck, on or around the eyes, eyebrows or eyelashes. Doing so can cause serious and permanent eye injury.

i-Light Pro features contact sensors which help ensure unintentional flashing when the device is not in full contact with the skin.

Answer:
First, know that this product is not FDA approved for the face and neck. It is imperative that it not be used around the eye. That said, I have seen reports of positive results on the face on this site. I can tell you from personal experience that I have very positive results with the same situation that you describe. Just use a lower setting; I do not go above the second setting personally in that area. It stings and is pretty snappy on that area, however it is very effective. Cover your eyes and do not go around the eyes ever.

Answer:
Both men and women can use i-Light Pro to remove unwanted hair below the neck. i-Light Pro is intended for use by individuals with light to medium skin colors, including white, ivory, tan, beige, and light brown only. Refer to the Skin Tone Chart on the packaging or in your Use & Care Guide to determine if your skin tone is suitable for use with the i-Light Pro.

i-Light Pro is also intended for use on naturally black or brown hair. Do not use i-Light Pro on white or gray hair because it will not work. IPL is less effective on lighter colors, such as blond or red hair.

No. i-Light Pro should NOT be used on the face, head, ears or neck. These areas may have darker skin and using the i-Light Pro there could cause skin swelling, temporary blisters, or could change the color of your skin. I-Light Pro should NEVER be used on or around the eyes, eyebrows or eyelashes. Doing so can cause serious and permanent eye injury.

i light vs diode laser

i light is not a laser- certain home laser hair removal companies advertise permanent hair removal, whereas i light claims to make one free for 6 months. Still for many reasons i am inclined to buy the i light system. I just need to confirm that with time, if not permanent hair removal than that the system does reduce hair significant with time. That is, every 6 months i will NOT be as i was in the beginning- that there will be some change. Is that possible with i light.
thanks

Answer:
FDA indicates that the laser can only advertise permanent reduction, not permanent removal. I would be wary of anyone advertising permanent results. Both methods require time. I have had laser treatments and find the iLight to be very comparable, much more convenient, and very affordable. I am completely satisfied and I've tried both ways now. I hope that helps.

Answer:
When used as directed, i-Light Pro IPL system helps remove unwanted hair without the need for daily shaving, waxing, or plucking. In a clinical study, after just three treatments, participants show an average of 47.8% less hair 6-months after last treatment. Actual results vary from person to person, depend on the body area being treated, and whether instructions were followed correctly.
