I absolutely love this straightener! I have previously used the CHI and SCP brands which range from $120-250 and this is by far the best! And a fraction of the cost!
After trying this appliance out - I have not gone back to my old straightener! This leaves my hair soft and smooth and super sleek after every use!
The pearl makes it super smooth and the design of the product prevents your hair from ever getting caught and ripped out!
Must try this product and I'd also recommend the Remington Pearl hair dryer and curling wand!!!!

I have gotten this straightener twice and both times something has gone wrong within the first 6-8 months. The first straightener's plates stopped getting hot, and i liked how it worked and hoped that it was just the one so i got another, but the second straightener's bottom plate is not getting hot now. While it works it works very well! However, if it's just going to break within a year, there is no point in getting another. Im extremely dissapointed in this product. A little over $60 waisted.

I have bought this Product twice & both times it works great 4 a day or 2 & then it stops working all to gather... The 1st time I bought it I had it 4 about 3 months & it quit working so I took it back & got another 1 I have had it for 1 day now & just got done with 1 side of my hair & it has QUIT WORKING AGAIN... I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER 1 OF THESE........... EVER AGAIN This really upsets me because when it works it works GREAT.... But it has some problems with continuing 2 stay working........ PLEASE FIX what ever is wrong with this product....

I had the same problem as MelindaA29. I used this flat iron a total of 4 times and it stopped working in the middle of my 5th use. I am extremely disappointed as it costs almost $40!
I am hoping that customer service will answer my request for a replacement, as Walmart will not take this return. So upset!

I have bought two of these in the past year and a half and both worked great for a while but then quit!
The first one i bought would heat up to the temperature and then everytime i shut the plates on my hair to straighten it the straightener would shut off!
The second one i bought was saying it was heated up so i would begin to use it, but then i realized it wasn't working right and checked to see what was going on. It turns out only one of the plates was heated up!
I loved these straighteners while they worked but won't be geting another one because the previous two have stopped working only 6-8 months later!
No, I do not recommend this product.

I bought this product about 4-5 months ago and it worked perfectly and went down kicking. I used this straightener everyday on my long thick coarse hair. It made my hair thin, pin straight, and very silky smooth! The straightener didn't destroy my bleached hair, as was expected of it, and never became gunked up with hair products. It worked perfectly for the entire 4-5 months that I used it up until two days ago when my younger sister accidentally punted it across the room! I got online right away and ordered a new one. No doubt the best straightener I've ever owned.

In the last year I have purchased two of these flat irons. The first one I had for a couple of months and I was really happy with the results....quick heat up, great results. It stopped working in the same manner I've seen described several times here......it turned on and heated up but kicked off ever time I used it (closed it on my hair). Thinking it was just a dud, I took it back to the store and exchanged for another - exact model. About 6 months later it is doing the same thing as the first one. Now I can't take it back and don't have the paper work #or patience) to try to get a replacement. Although when it works it works well, I wouldn't recommend to anyone.

this is the best straightener i have ever used. the 1st one got dropped in a sink full of water and still worked for a week. after using this tool my hair is straight and shiny. i recommend it to anyone who has curly hair.

I bought my Pearl around last March and it's already messed up. I straighten my hair maybe two or three times a month. So I've used the thing roughly 21 times. I used the highest setting (450) because my hair is naturally super curly. Anyway, I was using my Pearl the other night and I noticed it wasn't working like it should. I checked to make sure it was still on and it was. I then felt the plates. One of them was hot like it should have been, but the other wasn't,
I take good care of my flat-irons. I wipe off the plates after use, don't wrap the cord, etc. I am totally disappointed that this one died so early on. I could have spent half of what I paid on this straightener and actually gotten a product that would last.
No, I do not recommend this product.

You should try contacting Customer Service. Since it is within the 4 year warranty they should be able to help you out. If it stops working randomly that could mean that the wiring is bad. Using a bad wired straightener might not be good for much longer.

Not Heating
I've had this flat iron for a year (or less) and it has recently stopped heating properly. Basically, 410 degrees on the flat iron's digital thermometer isn't really 410 degrees. Even if I set at it's highest temp, it's still not doing the job. What should I do?

This one is the best out of all Remington flat irons!! I have extremely thick hair and it leaves it silky, smooth, and frizz free. Not to mention super glossy!! Its beats all high end expensive brands!! And I recommend you buy it through the 1800 customer service number. They give you a discount ;)

The one I have is purple. Its the 1" Anti-Static Ceramic S-5500. It has a long ceramic plates, 410 F, 30 Second Head up, Floating Plate, and an Auto Shut off. This straightener is worth the money. While using it I noticed my hair looked shiny and their claims where all true. It also has a lock on it. Great for easy storage. The swivel cord is perfect if you never know what angle you are going to try to straighten you hair next. Not only can you style with it but you can also curl with it. Over all it is a good product.

I have this flat iron and is a year (or less) old. Recently, it has stopped heating to the temperature indicated on the device and therefore it is not working up to par. Call Remington! 4 year warranty is still good;) They will give you the steps on how to receive a new one free of charge. The only cost would be to ship it back to them which is very cheap;) Good luck!

I've used it while my hair was damp and it worked just great:) But I'd advise to always dry out you hair and then straighten. Its unhealthy for your hair. Unless you use one that is ok for damp/ wet hair.

Why does the website and the box this straightener comes in say that it is rated worldwide voltage when it is only rated 120V?
I just bought this straightener specifically for travel. The box says worldwide voltage, and so does your website. However I just saw the question about dual voltage and that it is only 120V. Really?
