Rated 5 out of 5 by from It Works The shaver is working fine right out of the box. Seems to give a close shave.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good, Basic Corded Shaver This is a simple corded shaver and it works well for what it is. Nice to know you can turn it on everyday and not worry and not worry about charging issues. As expected with a lower tier model the motor isn't the strongest and the shave head features are limited, regardless though it still produces a good shave. I'd be willing to pay much more for a fuller featured corded shaver, Remington, please make one!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Corded shavers going the way of dinosaurs I have been using corded shavers for 40 years. I have tried foil shavers such as Braun and Remington, but I like the rotaries the best and have mostly used Norelco over the years. As most shavers are rechargeable nowadays, as others have mentioned, the basic model is all that manufacturers produce (1 each as far as I know). I'm trying this Remington as I could no longer find a corded Norelco shaver with a pop-up trimmer. Norelco removed it from their basic corded model. Anyhow, my first trial of the shaver does work well and meets my basic shaving needs with a nice shave. However, manufacturers, please listen to the customers... Many people want corded shavers! Please give us more options with them!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beats Norelco! I purchased both the Remington R2-405LB as well as the comparable Norelco 1000 series shaved. Both are advertised as "entry level" shavers, but I was looking for corded operation only as I have experienced premature death of rechargeable battery operated models previously. Sad that corded operation is viewed as an entry level option, as a constant power source is an advantage in my opinion. Side by side you immediately notice that the Norelco model is missing a pop-up trimmer which many may require. Both of these shavers are light, but the Norelco is lighter giving it a "cheap" feeling. It felt fragile in my ham hands. The Remington felt of better quality. I liked the traditional coil type power cord versus the straight 5' 10" cord of the Norelco that seemed to jumble up and be in the way. The connection point of the power cord on the Norelco seemed weak; the Remington's was much better. As for the cut, the closecut heads of the Norelco just didn't deliver like the Remington did. This could be due to the fact that the Remington blades are dual track, more cutting blades, and the Norelco is only single track. Bottom line: the Remington seems too be of superior quality and performance for me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not bad, a good value You can't beat the price, but there is a compromise difference from the R3 model. The blades are only a single row per head not the dual row that is on the higher priced model. Really, you would compromise the better cut for cents? Doesn't make any sense to keep a good reputation.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The product works just fine. It works just as expected. The product works jsut fine. It works as expected. Since is coorded you dont have to wory about charging the shaver. I had bought in the past other Remington shavers that are rechargable, and the charging thing is always a headache, one of them just dont charge anymore, other needs to be recharged first before being used, and it charges very slow so you need to charge it first for about an hour to use it. With this coorded one you forget of all that charging mess, you just use it whenever you need it at the moment you need it, and the best of all, for just a fraction of the price. I really recomend this product, works fine and the price is really a bargain.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Like a corded project, but needs more power My husband needed to replace his Remington shaver with power cord (not a cordless). He doesn't like cordless shavers because the battery or power supply breaks easily. This model seemed to be the sibling of his last shaver, but the motor is definitely not as powerful. Don't call this an "entry level" when you don't offer another shaver with a cord!!! Don't discontinue cord-ed shavers! There really are good reasons to prefer a corded shaver! But why the decrease in quality! Used to be "close as a blade or your money back! - I bought the company because I liked the product!" -- Make a better product with a cord! Please! We'd still recommend it if you want a corded shaver -- almost no other options are out there!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from R2 Rotary Shaver Need to make it more powerful. Otherwise great. It's the only product without a battery that I could find.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Advertisemen hype I have been using the shaver for a week and I am not impressed. The blades feel flimsy and the shave is not as close as advertised.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Price reflects quality I've used corded shavers for years, but they are extremely difficult to find. I purchased this shaver to try, instead of buying replacement blades for my older Norelco. I've been using since July 2016, and it's been disappointing. The shaving heads and blades are cheaply made; consequently I do not get a decent shave. The shaver is underpowered, and the blades pull on my facial hair. The power cord now falls out from the base of the shaver during use. The only decent feature of this shaver is the pop-up trimmer. Because the shaving heads and blades seem to have become so dull in just seven months, I've gone back to using my Noreclo that has four year old blades, and I'm getting a better shave! I'd be willing to spend more on the purchase of a corded shaver, but apparently no company wants to market one - so disappointing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from low budget This unit has a low cost but you get what you pay for. After many passes over the same area you still have half the whiskers left. This is not as good as a Norelco.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from You get what you pay for This is a cheap shaver and the performance matches the price. It was purchased for a nursing home resident (lifelong razor user) who gets a shave every 2-3 days. He said it grabbed and pulled the hair, and it didn't give a close shave. The results were better than nothing but patchy. The head assembly seems quite flimsy. He has asked me to return it to the store :(

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not like the old ones... I love my old Remington Rotary corded electric razor, but this new one has about 10% of the power the old one has. Not even worth trying.
Date published: 2016-12-19
Rated 1 out of 5 by from parts cost more than new shaver !!! where do you recycle old shaver ? the shaver stopped giving close shave after three months. the cutters needed to be replaced but it costs $29 and a new shaver is $25. Why would anyone order parts when the shaver costs less ? remington needs to rethink their parts costs. Also, where do you recycle the old shaver which is now not cost effective to buy parts for

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The R2 is lousy compared with my old Remington MS2 100 The R2 is a lot quieter than my old Remington MS2 100, and it feels good. But the R2 does not shave me nearly as close nor as well nor as quickly as the MS2 100. I only bought the R2 because a tiny plastic piece broke in the MS2, rendering the entire razor unusable. I had never used a rotary electric razor before and I thought that the R2 might be good for shaving my whole head. But I wish that I had not bought the R2. I especially wish that I had not bought the extra replacement blades for it, for I am now condemned to use the R2 . Based on my old Remington MS2 100 I would have recommended Remington razors to everyone. But based on the R2 I will not recommend Remington to anyone. I will look at other brands when I need a new razor.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This product is poor. Although I have had bad experiences with Remington Products in the past I decided to give it one more shot. I bought this shaver expecting a much different turn out than what I got. The machine gets clogged up easily and you need to clean it after one pass if you want it to keep cutting. This product left many stray hairs on my face and I had to end up using a conventional razor to get everything it missed. This product also cut up my neck area pretty easily. The all plastic machine is not very durable and is as light a feather. I would not recommend this product to anyone unless your trying to cut peach fuzz. You get what you pay for with this product. Very disappointed and will be returning tomorrow after one use.
