SP290_zoom

Maintain your clean, consistent look with a screen and cutter replacement every six months. Pivot and Flex Foil Technology allows the neck to pivot freely while the three independent flexing foils adjust to the contours of your face, chin and jaw for an ultra close, ultra clean shave. Fits foil shavers F4790, F4790XLP and F4790CS.

 SP290_stepA Step 1: Grasp front and back of foil carrier assembly and pull upward. 
 SP290_stepB Step 2: Grasp each cutter between thumb and forefinger and pull upward.
 SP290_stepC Step 3: Snap each new cutter assemblies into top of drive shaft. DO NOT push on ends of cutters as this may bend them and reduce effectiveness. Replace the new foil carrier assembly.

Pieces should be sold separately I have no complaint with the product; I have been buying this type of Remington shaver for years, and I have always gotten a closer shave than the rotary models. But...the screens wear out much sooner than the blades (usually last half as long) and I have been unable to buy the screens separately anymore. They used to be readily available at Walmart and most drugstores, but now the only way t buy them is together, and it gets expensive. I may change shaver make soon to get one with easier to obtain replacement parts. July 12, 2014

Critique of value Cost of purchasing screens and cutters is not far from the cost of the whole razor. I have had to replace these at least twice and compared to Braun, which is much higher in initial cost, the Remington parts need replacing much more often. Cost effectiveness is what I am thinking of in this assessment. June 30, 2014

foil for f4790

I have the f4790 and get very few shaves before the foil breaks a hole in it. I have a very light beard and only need to shave every other day. I get about 2 charges on the razer befor the foil goes. This is becoming a very costly shaver..
I clean, very carefully after every shave. I use pre shave and press very lightly while using.
I even tryed purchasing the entire razer thinking perhaps the new foils that come with the razer were beter...
Perhaps quality control needs to be checked?

Be sure your shaving area is very clean . Any dust or anything on area to be shaved will ware the moving parts . Also a tiny drop of shaver oil will make them last longer .

Answer: 
I have the same razor for over a year and have not put a hole in the foil. I shave daily and only clean the blades and foil once a week. When I clean it I pull the black foil holder off the razor and tap it gently in the sink to remove the hair. I do not brush the foil since I am afraid of putting a hole in it. I use the brush to clean the cutters and the insides of the foil holder but do not touch the foils. Hopefully this will work the same for you.

I was able to carefully pry one end of the cutter till it came loose, then pulled up on the opposite side and it came out. I repeated on the other one. I simply installed the new ones in reverse order.

they just pop off if you just pull on each one with your fingers. There is no trick other than just pulling straight out. Don't worry, I have never broken one over many years. To install the new ones, simply push down

I have only had the razor about a month,and somehow got a hole in the screen that cuts me if I use it.I see that screens are only sold with the cutters.That purchase alone is half the price of a whole new razor! I will keep this one to use the pop-up trimmer,but will probably buy a competitor's new razor. I won't make this same mistake again if that's the way it is!

Answer: 
The shaver works much better if you replace both the screen and cutters at the same time. To get the old cutters out tilt them end to end then pull them out. If you bump the screen on anything it will dent it and cause the cutters to start cutting the screen. After doing that a couple of times I started handling my shaver very carefully. The screen should last 4-6 months if you don't damage it.

I just spoke to sales and they confirmed that Remington only sells cutters and foils together and that it was a marketing decision. I'm sure they could sell them separately, probably at a higher price, but that someone has done the analysis and they must make more forcing customers to buy both together, in spite of any customers they lose, like myself, due to this practice. I thought the customer was always right, but apparently customer loyalty loses out to dollars and cents. Goodbye Remington, it was good while it lasted (for over ten years).

I had a Remington DA407 that I loved but could no longer find screens/cutters so I replaced it with the F-4790. Walmart sells the razor but does not currently have the replacment screens. maybe the amount of hair into the machine or in the locking parts are the guilty. Or check if it is broken, if it is from the replacement part you have to buy it, but if it is from the body of the machine you have to replace it completely.

Thank you contacting Remington. We are sorry to hear about the problems you are experiencing with the head of your shaver not staying in place. We have found through testing that in most cases the cause is from a buildup of debris within the bottom ‘hair pocket’ of your shaver.

To resolve this issue in the future we suggest that you thoroughly clean your shaver underneath the cutter assembly. Start by removing the foil from the top of your shaver, then remove each cutter; we then recommend you use a toothpick and thoroughly clean the corners of the unit. It is very important to clean the area in the ‘grooves’ and around the ‘edges’ where the head assembly fits into place. If you are having trouble cleaning this area with the provided brush we suggest using a toothpick or try running the head of the shaver under cold water.

If you have questions regarding this, please call consumer service and we will walk you through this cleaning process.
