Rated 2 out of 5 by from Replacement Comb First of all, had I known how flimsy this comb was before I bought the trimmer, I would not have bought the trimmer. That said, I'm glad that the replacement comb is readliy available and appears to be identical to the original. I ordered two combs because 1) I fully expect it to break at some point and 2) buying two with free shipping costs less that buying one with paid shipping. I'm also grateful that the combs survived the US Mail shipping. I checked the recommend yes box for the replacement comb only because without it you would need to by a new trimmer. I would not recommend the trimmer because of the flimsy comb.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Breaks almost as often as it's used. Having lost the comb that originally came with this razor due to breakage, I ordered a replacement comb. The replacement broke after only a few uses as well. I typically use the stubble comb - about twice per week - and for some reason the little tines seem to be much more durable than the ones on this comb. I always store my razor and accessories in the carry case and never drop it. The plastic comb is just very weak. A warning to all guys: DO NOT USE IF BROKEN. Even a single snapped off tine will result in an uneven facial hair trim that will force you to shave it all off, since there is no longer anything protecting the electric blade. Now I have to buy a replacement to the replacement.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Outside combs break too easily I've been using this as a hair cutter for a couple of years now. I have balding hair and like to keep it short. What I have noticed is the outside two comb pieces have snapped off while sitting in my cabinet drawer. Granted, I throw other grooming and hygiene stuff in there and this may have contributed to the breakage. Going forward, I keep these combs (I bought two) in a location under the sink that should preclude any more breakage. By the way, these work great for getting a consistent cut all over my pate and I would definitely recommend this to someone else. Just watch where you store the combs!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from An improvement over earlier version The earlier version of this comb was very flimsy. The plastic was so thin that I quickly broke one of the guide teeth. On the next use I broke a second one. The new one I just received is better. The plastic is thicker and sturdier. To be honest, I would still like to see it made even thicker and stronger. I bought 2, just in case, and I paid a little more than $3 each. If you could make it even sturdier, I would be happy to pay twice the price for 1 unit. It's a good product, and I recommend it for anyone who owns this shaver, but there's still room for a little more improvement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All around A++ product. Guards are durable if you care for them well. I bought a Remington trimmer, (I think it was the HC5150 series) and 3.5 years later I am still using it. The best trimmer on the market for its price point. The guards or "combs" however do see to be the Achilles heal of this fine piece of hardware. Ive had to purchase multiple guards and learned that if you care for the guard and dont throw it into your bathroom drawer it will last twice as long. So what does that tell you. I am simply happy that remington offers these to buy online and at a semi-reasonable price. So thats is that, there is my positive review that i took 5 minutes of my life to write as I order some more of these things. My beard is getting quite bushy so its time to order more!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great concept, poor execution Have the HC-5150 which is a great razor and perfect for what I need with this comb, but I have been working with 2 teeth left on the comb for the last 6 months, as based in Asia so impossible to find a supplier to supply just the comb. Travel a lot so has to go in my bag traveling with me and that is when the teeth break off even if you put the comb in the bottom of a trainer to protect it. So Remington you have two options to either make this a comb in metal so that it lasts a lot longer as I don't mind paying 5USD to 10USD for that as I know it will last for a lot longer, or give the comb a protective case that it can be stored in again 5USD to 10USD for the comb with case is fine. Otherwise I will move to another brand that does provide this, anybody got any other suggestions?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Functional, though slightly fragile. I bought this to replace the guard that came with my groomer. It's the same product, so it's just as susceptible to the problems that caused me to buy this replacement. The whole thing is made of a weak plastic that works great for everyday shaving, but you have to take care when traveling. The teeth are likely to bend and break, so you can't just throw the groomer in your bag and hope for the best. I bought several at once because I can't guarantee that I'll be able to take care of them, and the plastic breaks with sharp edges, so using a broken guard is very uncomfortable. Overall, the product works great. It's an exact replacement for the guard that came with the groomer. You just need to be a bit careful with it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from just get new clippers We purchased this to replace a guard that broke when dropped. Okay, if you drop something and it breaks you can't blame the product--I get it. However, this second guard broke when pulling it out of the case that comes with the clippers. It snagged a lose thread, and a piece snapped right off. Should that be acceptable loss as well? Since you're expected to cram everything into a small bag, you'd hope they could withstand a bit more. I don't plan on getting a new guard. The cost with shipping comes out to half the price of the clipper set. It might be cost-effective to purchase more than one guard, but that seems silly--buy more just in case the first one or two you get break. I'd rather buy a new clipper set. Sorry, but I won't be buying another guard.
