F5 Shaver with Set of Replacement Foils 3.6 5 45 45
looks very good! I've only had this shaver for three weeks,so far it's working really good. December 10, 2014
Performs better than I expected Wanted to keep my MS2-390 as long as I could get parts. Thought it was my best ever. My new F-5800 performs very well. Intercept feature is particularly effective. Disappointed in the charger cord, very cheap & doesn't coil for storage. Overall a good value. Wait and see about durability. Have only been using it less than two months but have no reason to think it won't last 3-4 years. Would like to have seen a travel case included. October 13, 2014
A good razor. This is a good razor and cutter. As my beard grows gray, it would be nice to have a more durable cutter and screen. I find the cutter dulls quickly when cutting a gray beard. I still prefer the old microscreen to this product for a closer shave. September 30, 2014
Surprising Performance After shaving with a blade for years, decided to try an electric razor because of blades giving me nicks. I am very pleased with the Remington F5 in both the quality of the shave and the quality of the unit itself. the only reason I gave it a slightly lower score on durability is that I have only had the shaver for 2 months; but it does seem very well made. November 4, 2014
Forget 5 minute shaves Shaver leaves many uncut hairs each time it passes over an area resulting in 2 to 3 DOZEN passes over the same area to almost cut all the stubble. Most times a minimum of 20 minutes is required to even get an acceptable shave but not a complete one. October 29, 2014
Good shave Had an old Remington so the F5 is definitely a better shaver with a smoother shave. October 11, 2014
Another great shaver This is my second Remington shaver my first one lasted 12 years and now it was time to upgrade instead of just buying a new battery. August 1, 2014
Poor, Poor, and Poor Extremely disappointed in the quality of this shaver. This shaver has turned into a money pit to maintain. Factor in The initial price, add cost of replacement foils, not once, but twice in the past three months, and I now need to replace them AGAIN! My face has been nicked to the point of bleeding, by the holes in the foils! Really? I am done with Remington Products! August 11, 2014

Since when i purchased it i have problems with irritation on my face because of those blades, my face feels like it's on fire after i use it and my skin doesn't seem to adjust to the new shaving system. What is the problem with those blades? Why they heat up so fast?

Answer:
Before you try switching razors, are you properly lubricating your skin before shaving? I have found either Remington Powder Stick or CVS Classic pre-shaves to greatly reduce irritation as well as extend razor head life.

Answer:
I would gladly replace my F5800 shaver with a rotary but i have it for at least half of year and i kept it as a backup for my old Braun shaver that died one month ago so i have 1 month with this shaver and my skin doesn't like it, sometimes it feels like it wants to adjust to the shaver but other times it feels like it just doesn't like it, i suspect it's the titanium coated blades that cause this irritation, why not use steel blades instead of those but with more cutting elements? It's advertised on the box that titanium is 300% harder than steel but it doesn't feel like it since i have to make 6 passes over my face for the shaver to get all the hairs. It feels like the quality of the electric shavers has dropped very much compared to 10 years ago.

Answer:
Thank you for your recent message. We do apologize for the inconvenience that has been caused by the razor. With a new razor system, it is listed within the manual, that there is a period of adjustment that the face will need to become comfortable with the new razor. This period in some cases can take upwards of 3 weeks. During this time frame it is possible to get the feeling or appearance of razor burn. If you feel that this is something that is specific to the razor itself we will gladly work with you to exchange it for another type of razor (i.e. rotary for Microscreen) and see if that would work better for you. Please respond and let us know if this is something that you would be interested in. Also in your response if you could include the model number of the razor that you currently have for our records.

Answer:
If all are flashing that means that it is full charge.
If some are solid and others are flashing, that means that it is charged up to the ‘solid’ light and charging the flashing sections still.

i.e. the LED’s blink until the threshold levels above are achieved – solid after threshold level is obtained.

Answer:
This depends on the type of battery. The Remington F-5 uses a heavy duty nickle-metal hydrite battery which because I fully conditioned it first with a full charge before use now goes all of the way down to the red charge light on the gauge, then still gives me eight more shaves, quitting in the middle of the ninth. This is after 10-12 shaves or so first before the recharge light-a great battery! I am getting nearly 3 weeks of shaves. So now I let the gauge go red, then use eight shaves more, then fully recharge for two hours only.. Because I never use the battery to zero no 24 hour "conditioning" charge is needed. But I will never have the "memory" effects of if you keep topping off every few shaves. This make crystals form inside the battery so it can never fully recharge, will think it needs recharge every shave!
Some new Remington razors with lithium batteries are different. These you can severely strain if you discharge them near to zero and then they will never fully charge. But they have no "memory" factor, so why would you need to? Recharge these as soon as you reach the low charge warning!

Hi,

I have a Remington F5800 shaver which hadn't been used for over a year. When switched on the unit showed all LEDs lit green and ran fine for a number of shaves. The green LEDs showed decreasing charge and eventually went to RED and the shaver stopped. I have tried to charge the shaver but no LEDs come on when plugged into the charger. When switched on (plugged in or unplugged) the only LED that comes on is the RED one, which stays on constantly (not flashing). Shaver runs a short period and then goes off. Does this mean there is a problem with the battery or charger? Is it possible to purchase / fit a replacement battery if that is the problem?

Thanks.

Answer:
I am suspicious the unit is not charging as the green lights are not on when on the charger. However this does not show whether the problem is in the razor recharging circuitry or your charging cord transformer. you could buy a new cord/transformer to try. Your 5800 should run on AC with your current charger cord.. If it does, then more likely your problem is within the razor.
I have changed the battery on other electric razors if out of warranty using instructions I got on the internet, but I do not know if this is possible with the 5800 and you may consider any such effort to be of extremely high risk. Consult someone at a Remington products service center first about changing the battery being possibly done by them.

I plugged in the razor F5 to the wall charger for the first time and it blinked all green. I turned it on and it registered 100% charged right out of the box. It did nothing however when I placed it in the charging station.....no lights. What gives?
