SCC100R Short Cut Clipper 3.9 5 142 142
just what i was looking for wasnt sure when I ordered it if it would do what I wanted ,but I have used it 2 times now and it has kept its power and did the job actually better then in a hair place...I have had cuts from a plae and theres uneven hair and this little clipper doesnt look it but it works great. I have only had it a short time so not sure if it will last or perform long term but for the money I already got 2 perfect cuts , so it pays for itself fast. The only issue if you wanna call it that is the hair does get all over the place when cutting, I did own a flowbee for 20 yrs and it was attached to the vacuum so , guess I was used to that, but its light it cuts great and inexpensive and pays for itself in no time at all. I hope they cont to make this produce and I think it needs to be out there in the stores more May 11, 2015
This clipper saves time and money No more trips to the barber shop. I keep my hair short and neat at all times. May 6, 2015
Great product with a fatal flaw... I really like this clipper but have purchased two of them and had the same thing happen with both. The battery unit no longer holds a charge. I've tried all of the fix strategies with no luck and for the price which is really low, it isn't worth the hassle to send it back in to be fixed or get a replacement. April 24, 2015
I Like It I have only used this two times, but I can say it is extremely easy to use,and you get a very even cut. As far as durability I can't really say yet,but for the price I would recommend this over your regular type razors for the simplicity and ease of use. I hope this lasts me a long time, because it definitely will save me money in the long run. By the way,my wife really likes my first two hair cuts. March 28, 2015
GREAT product... But... I love the concept and have owned several of these in the past few years. The good: it seems to cover more surface area per stroke than anything else, reducing the amount of time required to complete the job. The price is right. You can spend several times more on other products that don't perform as well when new. Which leads to... The bad: If you read the reviews you'll find a common theme: the horrible battery. It seems great when new, but the battery has been terrible for years, and you can't use it plugged in. Reviews that are years old complain about these issues and they're still not fixed. I'm going to add one that I haven't seen, yet. Maybe it will guide Remington toward a solution. Here's the weird issue with mine: if I twist/bend the trimmer a little bit the blades speed up. If it's oiled the blades speed up. I think something loses torque, or perhaps it starts to bind after a period of use. Also, I can't find them anywhere but online. But, to be fair, that might just be my issue. In the end, I can find them, even if online. Dear Remington, I would happily pay twice the price if the battery would hold a charge longer (or that had the motor/binding issue worked out) and could use it plugged in, if it would longer than ~1 year. March 19, 2015
curved clippers Easy to use, dependable, quick, doesn't miss areas, works equally well on head and beard December 31, 2014
No Mirror Needed Great for buzz cuts. Quick & easy with no mirror needed. Only problem is it lasts for only about a year if you use it twice a week. December 29, 2014
Be prepared to run it from mains power only for a great cut. Battery fails to charge. For those who want a good, even cut without the potential "stripeyness" of other types of hair trimmers, get this one. I am fortunate that I can run this on mains power cord. The battery has failed to charge for a loooooooong time now! But I still get a good cut :-) I just hope it never fails halfway thru the job +:-0 I did note that they stopped selling it here - SAD :-) I'm hoping to get many more years from it. I use this without a mirror and never fail to get a tidy cut :-) Remington, please re-release one with a great battery/charging circuit and you will have a winning product. Just don't lose the ability to shave while plugged in too ;-) December 28, 2014

Not sure why I'm willing to do Remington's job for free, but on the box it shows lengths between 1/8 - 1/2".

Also not sure why no one else could just answer your question, and do it accurately, but used your thread to opine on other things, instead. Anyway, hope that helps!

Hair length settings are 1, 1.5, 2, 3 & 4. Much faster and easier than the standard clipper. However I also use the standard clipper for finishing touches after cutting with the curved clipper.

I purchased a Shortcut a couple years ago and it is a great grooming tool; however, since the very beginning I have eperienced problems recharging the battery. It takes an inordinate amount of time to recharge (12 hrs plus) and the charge lasts less than one or two minutes when the item is used. To continue, one must recharge for another 30 seconds to get about as much time in use. After researching this problem online I found out it is very common, yet it has not been addressed by Remington. I truly like the trimmer and would like to purhcase another one, but only if I can be assured that this obvious problem has been resolved. Would you advice?

I've had mine for years and it went slower and slower and I was about to order a new one until I found the post about removing the cover and cleaning it. Clogged is an understatement. Used a screwdriver to shift most of the hair and then an aerosol dust remover. Splash of WD40 and it goes like a race car. Try it.

Answer:
My SCC-100R purchased in April 2009 came back to life after un-freezing the clipper.

While looking at blades facing up, and un-snapping a thin plastic blade cover on left, the blade armature was moved foreward using a medium screwdriver. It moves back a bit by itself if the blades are clean & lubed.

After hearing it try to start with each button press & blink of the red LED, pushing the reciprocating part foreward got it started. Adding oil made it go faster. Clipped hair dries up the lub, but the sound changes to a higher pitch as lub is added.

Higher-voltage cord & plug power may overcome blade friction issues, but the lower torque battery may not be considered out of spec. until verified by examination, and failures after 2-years may not be considered a warranty issue.

When manufacterers replace units under warranty, as a customer service issue, further product development may not be justified. Competitors may also avoid similar attemps, especially if patent-infringement liability existis during the first 17 years.

As perhaps the simplest clipper available to groom my balding head, the desire to avoid the barber is matched by equal desire to propery care for this tool.

I bought this unit directly from the company last month and only used the clipper a couple of times.. the charge did last more than one cut but suddenly the unit stopped charging. I thought maybe it's the charger so tried a universal charger that I have and still won't work... Great clipper but I don't think the charging issue is resolved.. Going to contact their warranty department. Really disappointed about that.

AU,
i just purchased my third trimmer. my first one i've had for 5 years and it will still work if i hold the power button half way in. kinda like if you hold a light switch in the middle so that the light dims. but it takes about 50 trys to get it to power on.
i got a new one last Christmas and it worked once and now won't even take a charge. i'm hoping the third one is the charm. i wish they would fix the problem and put this trimmer back on the shelves i would use it the rest of my life. beats going to great clips!

In order to properly re-seat the blade guard after removal for cleaning, the device setting must be put on on #4. I had a difficult time too, but when I did this the guard slipped right in and seated correctly.

Yes there is a trick to it, I had a bit of a struggle myself putting mine back together. I don't remember the details but it had to do with the blade position I think it has to be out all the way and then snap the cover in then retract. Sorry that is as much help as I can be.

No and this is a very annoying feature because as the battery gets weaker which it will if you keep it plugged in 24/7 the device is useless. I advise to charge it only when necessary. The battery would keep a charge for a week of daily usage. At least it did for me.

Answer:
I have had the same problem with two of these. My suggestion is to complain and then just but another. Use remington.com and get it on line. The shipping is free and the cost cheaper than in a retail store. Also if you search 'on line' there are 10% discount coupons/codes at coupon sites that can be used with the online order.

18-24 months seems to be the life span if used frequently. The having to tap to get it to work is irritating. Did you charging light indicator stop working at the same time. In both instances mine did. Onlyproblem is that once you start tapping.you have to tap more frerquently.

but it is otherwise a great product at a good price.
