Hello, everyone and happy summer!

My name is Rachel and I am the creator of the blog, Rachel Lynn. I don't know about you, but summer is my absolute favorite season. There's just something about the sun shining, birds chirping and the promise of a trip to the beach that really puts me in the mood to accomplish anything and everything. As much as I love summer, though, it can be pretty tough on your skin. I've definitely had my fair share of sun burns and summer breakouts. Yikes.
As I get older, I am routinely reminded how important it is to take care of your skin in these summer months. So today I am bringing you my foolproof summer skin care guide.
- Always, always, always wash your face
This one should be a given and never overlooked in these summer months. If you're like me you spend most of your time frolicking in the sun and, nine times out of ten, sweating your butt off! Your pores are bound to get clogged-- especially if you're wearing makeup while frolicking. Because of this, I take my face washing game to the next level in the summertime.
This summer I've been all about my Remington Facial Cleansing Brush. Before I use the brush, I make sure to clean my face of most of my makeup to ensure a deeper clean. That is exactly how I would describe how my skin feels after using this brush-- deeply cleaned. My skin feels light and fresh-- as if I had used a mask! When my skin is being bombarded by the harsh summer climate, this Facial Cleansing Brush is the oasis my skin needs.
- Use a light moisturizer
In the winter, my face dries out like no other, but in the summer with the heat and the humidity, I never have that problem. It's still good to always moisturize your face, but I've found it's best to go with a lightweight moisturizer in the summer months. That way, your skin is weighted down by more products than it needs.
- Use Sunscreen
Real talk, I am the worst offender of this rule. As the unofficial child of the sun, I'm obsessed with getting as tan as possible and almost never use sunscreen. If I'm being honest, most of the time I simply forget to put it on and then when I'm with other people who are using sunscreen I always kick myself for forgetting. One way I've started to combat this problem is by picking up moisturizers or makeup that already has SPF in the formula. That way, you don't have to take another step when getting ready.
I will 100% of the time recommend buying sunscreen itself and using that when you know you'll be out in the sun all day, but for those of us who will forget to buy it until the day we die, moisturizers and makeup with SPF included is a good substitute.
- Exfoliate routinely
I don't want to put an exact number on how often you should be exfoliating because it totally depends on your skin type and what sort of summer activities in which you are participating, but you should definitely add exfoliation to your summer skin care routine. It's always a good idea to give your face a good scrub to get rid of all of your built up dead skin. (yum)
- Use Minimal Makeup
Perspiring is a theme of summers for me and because of this I try to wear as little makeup as possible. Not only is the "melting face" look less than cute, but, as we've discussed earlier, it's just healthier for your skin to wear as little on it as possible in the summer.
- Utilize cute summer hats when the sun is too much
I love playing with this summer skin care tip! I know there are some days I want to be outside, enjoying the beautiful weather, but if my skin has seen too much sun that week, I want to protect it at any cost. A cute wide brim hat always does the trick for me! Also, fun summer hats take any outfit to the next level and since I'm first and foremost taking care of my skin I have to buy twelve, right??
Have a wonderful, sun filled summer!
